The OFFICIAL Bears v Packers Game Day Thread
« on: September 24, 2017, 10:00:53 PM »
To be clear, I hate the Bears. They are Public Enemy No. 1. My favorite song, the one that always makes me smile and lifts my spirits? What else?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VKIv-b3n3I

I'm way too old to be this childish, but the Bears bring out my worst tendencies.

Anyway, this is going to be a tough game. The Packers OL is a MASH unit. Bulaga showed enormous guts trying to play through an ankle injury, but it was apparent early on that he wasn't as effective as we have come to expect. Though considering the alternatives, he was probably the best option. Both teams will be coming off short weeks, and the Bears just notched a win over the Steelers, totally unexpectedly. Meanwhile, the Packers have once again had a slow start. But, in spite of this, are still 2-0 at home. Can they make it 3-0? Hopefully. And once they get some of their starters back, get into better football shape, and start forming a stronger identity, they could once again get stronger as the season progresses. Because, as alwsys, it's not how you start, but how you finish that counts. And dominating home games and division games is the best way to assure home field when January rolls around.

More important than winning this game is just getting out healthy.

No more starters going down would be great.

#Packers DL Mike Daniels (hip) is a game-time decision tonight. He’s close to playing but will need to test it out pregame before deciding.

The Bears listed Akiem Hicks questionable with a foot injury.

Very significant: #Bears add Akiem Hicks to their injury report. Foot. Listed as questionable.

Questionable seems very minor compared to the other injuries from both teams.

Tonight is the 195th meeting between the Packers and the Bears. The current record is 94 - 94 with 6 ties. The scoring totals are: Packers - 3,335. Bears - 3,331 ... It's crazy how tight this rivalry is. It really is one of the best, if not the best in sports.

Packers select game captains each week. Today's captains will be WR Davante Adams (offense), DT Kenny Clark (defense) and LB Blake Martinez(special teams).

Going to be tough to block their two DE's without Bak or Bulaga. I"m operating under the assumption they don't play. Even if they do they won't be close to 100%. That used to bother me a lot. Now, I've got to be honest, it won't bother me too much if Rodgers get knocked on his butt a few times with some good shots.

Still want the Packers too win, don't get me wrong.

The thing to look out for is this: hope that the Bears stay with Glennon all game.

If so, it will increase our probability of winning.

I do not want to see Mitch T.

I think the Packers were pretty sure that they'd be without their starting OT's, and were game planning and doing blocking schemes based on that premise. So, will this be a tough game? Of course. It's a divisional matchup, and a continuation of the longest running rivalry in the NFL. The players, I believe, "get it".

For many on here, the Vikings are the enemies. Well, I was around ten years old when they became a team, and was raided to love the Packers and hate the Bears. I still do. The Vikings are annoying, of course, and would become unsufferably obnoxious if they actually won a SB. That is part of the reason I really, really want the Packers to win the SB in their new stadium.  >:D

I hate them both!!

It's just that the Bears "hate" is an older "hate"!!

College in the early/mid 70's was about 70% students who were Viking fans.

That was a loooooooong 4 years.  banghead
