HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5-9.5 / 208 | 40: 4.49

Three-year starter who led Conference USA with 1,773 rushing yards on 229 carries in 2016 and tied for second in the conference with 17 rushing touchdowns, earning First Team All-Conference USA honors. Added 28 catches for 233 yards and three touchdowns. Named Honorable Mention All-Conference USA as a junior despite playing in two games and rushing for 209 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries before tearing ligaments in his ankle, an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season. Earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors in 2014 after rushing for 1,321 yards and 11 touchdowns on 242 carries, adding 30 receptions for 293 yards and three scores. Made six starts as a true freshman, making the Conference USA All-Freshman Team with 811 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 155 carries.

Strong, compact ball carrier who picks up a lot of yardage off initial contact. Runs with excellent lean, keeps his feet moving and rarely gets brought down by the first defender. Breaks tackles and carries defenders or moves the pile. Tough to bring down. Smooth, displays terrific vision and effectively uses blocks as well as running angles. Solid pass catcher out of the backfield who easily adjusts to the errant throw and making the catch in stride.

Average quickness and shows little burst in his game. Possesses marginal speed, cannot beat defenders into the open field and gets caught from the backside. More of a one-cut ball carrier. Tends to lose balance off the initial hit.

Jones is a rough-and-tumble interior running back with average size and speed numbers. He gives effort and does the little things well, which could help him catch on as a fourth running back.
