You have to pay for really good players. This also depends on how the contract is structured. With $66 million in cap space, this deal isn't a big problem for them. What they do have to worry about is Sherman's health. He's had injuries on both Achilles tendons, and that does not bode well IMO.

It's really more like a one year deal for about 13m, with a dead cap hit of about 3.33m if they cut him.

As Bignutz said, I agree that $13m per year for a guy that was slow to begin with, and now has had two achilles as well. If the WR gets off the line fairly quickly he might be toast, these days.

Glad he signed somewhere else. As has been already stated, it is basicly a 1 year deal. For a player in decline that may not be ready to play until October, that is not anything the Packers needed to get into. IMO

If you look at the Niners depth chart, they needed a CB pretty bad.  Sherman says he will be on the field in June.

I would not be surprised if they go after Butler also.
