Tim Tebow was cut by the Jets
« on: April 29, 2013, 03:01:04 PM »
Where does he end up?

Despite the obvious angst that many fans would feel, the guy is still very popular and it is a business. I could see the ego of a professional coach wanting to see what he could do with the guy.

I don't think that the Packers will sign him, but I could see McCarthy considering it. If nothing else, he'd make a great 3rd string QB to run the read option for the scout team. There's always that.

Tim Tebow will only come to Green Bay to preach at a revival. The Packers will have nothing to do with him and the media circus that continues to envelop this guy. The read option? Tebow would expect to make a couple million a year. Even if he accepted vet minimum, still too much to prepare for a gimmick offense.

IF any team would sign him, I'd think it's be a Florida team- Jacksonville and Miami are both in need of more fans in the stands.

The Packers do need a FB. At 6 ft 3 in, 236 lb, he would need to beef up a bit, but I have "faith" in Tebow ;)

He was always a joke as an NFL QB

My son was a fan of his while he was going on his tear in Denver. If you overlook the media circus that follows him, he's a fun guy to root for. With that said, I always thought that he was a FB who could throw the ball instead of a QB who could run the ball. He's the kind of football player that coaches love. I wouldn't want him as my starting QB, but I personally believe that there's going to be more than one coach who will think he can find a spot for him to contribute somehow.

I don't think that the spotlight would be nearly as bright for him in a place like Green Bay where he's backing up the best QB in the NFL, and unlikely to ever see the field unless there's a blowout or Rodgers can't go. If he's on the field, the Packers are in a bad way and I've got to think that he's still a better option than Graham Harrell and/or B. J. Coleman.

I'm neither for, nor against him getting a shot. I think that there's a lot to like about the guy and a lot of people who dislike him for reasons that have nothing to do with football.

CFL. He would be a perfect fit up there.

Beagle, the CFL team that holds his rights said if he signed with them, he'd be a backup, not a starter. This is from the NFL Network this morning. Tebow needs to finally admit that his accuracy is terrible, and that he is a major project as a QB. He projects as a FB or H-back. He refuses to accept this reality, and continues to insist he is capable of being an NFL QB. Its his life, and he has the right to live it as he sees fit. However, his reality and the reality seen by NFL teams (several- including JAX) have declared they have no interest in him are at odds. And in this case, he can change or do something else.

wait! Late breaking news! Ther is a team interested in signing Tebow!

Since when ricky, has he "insisted that he is capable of being an NFL quarterback?" I don't follow Tebow very closely, but I get the impression he wants to play football. He was playing on special teams for the jets for crying out loud! You make him sound like some kind of prima donna, and I've never had that impression of the guy.

A couple of teams inquired with his agent about playing TE or RB. Tebow refused and is only willing to play QB. That is pretty much insisting on playing QB, no?

If that is so I would say, yes it does suggest he would like to play QB cpak! ( - : #

Is there some reliable news source for this? I am a verification kind of person. I'm neither for nor against Tebow; but I generally cross-reference information and sources about anything about which I'm curious....Not that there would EVER be unsubstantiated rumor here on PackerChatters!!!

At first I was thinking this too but isn't that a big time passing league?  Tebow isn't the greatest passer by any stretch.  Until he admits to himself he is no NFL QB he may only find backup jobs on mediocre teams.

ESPN good enough for you?

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/9222870/new-york-jets-cut-tim-tebow-source

And to quote it:

Quote
The Jets had given permission this offseason to Tebow's agent, Jimmy Sexton, to try to seek a trade, a source familiar with situation said. More than one team reached out to see whether Tebow was willing to switch positions from quarterback to tight end, but he was not.

Sounds like a guy insisting on playing QB.
