What would blow your mind tonight?
« on: April 25, 2019, 02:50:57 AM »
In a good or bad way?

Good - Quinnen Williams drops far enough that #12 and #30 swing the deal or they trade back a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd. Devin White falls to 12.

Bad - Selecting any QB. Picking DK Metcalf @12. Simmons available @ 30 and they pass.

Packers give up their #30 pick for a first next year. Not calling it good or bad, just shocking.

Trading away #12 (for picks next year) would be even more shocking, but (imo) much less likely.

Drafting Rashan Gary at #12 would be shocking in a bad way. So would a receiver at #12 . Drafting Simmons or Ferrell at #30 would be shocking in a good way.

(ricky) "Personally, I'm putting this in a box, driving a stake through its heart, firing a silver bullet into its (empty) head, nailing it shut, loading it into a rocket and firing it into the sun. "

(Pink Floyd) "Set the controls for the heart of the sun"

Bob McGinn's mock today has us taking Jeff Simmons at 12.  I try to expect the unexpected, but that stopped me in my tracks.

I have felt that the market for Simmons started at 24 with Oakland and their 2nd pick in the first round, but when Seattle landed a second 1st rounder from KC, I lowered that to the 21st pick. But I understand the logic there, an uninjured Simmons would be a top 3-5 pick in this draft and the Packers are probably looking to draft Daniels replacement for next year in this years draft. The but here for me is that the Packers have no history of drafting such players, just the opposite in that they normally avoid the injured. The few times they didn't it hasn't worked out so well, Justin Harrell is the first name to come to mind for me.

Same here, thought the exact same thing about Harrell after processing McGinns pick.  BTW, McGinn picked Thornhill at 30.

I personally think Thornhill is the #1 perfect fit in this draft for the Packers, will be interesting to see if he is there and the Packers feel the same way.

AZ trades #1 to Oakland and they don't draft Kyler Murray!  (IE Quinnen Williams is the pick)  As for us, White falls to us at 12!

I believe you are right in that the Raiders are angling for Williams. They have been pushing the idea that they love Dwayne Haskins and letting the media run with it. Their hope, Murray (1) - Bosa (2) - hoping Washington or NY Giants trade up to 3 and select Haskins (3) and Williams is theirs without giving up draft capital. Will be interesting to see if it works. One of the many subplots being played out today.

Packers could be doing the same thing with Drew Lock.  Getting teams to come up in front of 12 or 30, allowing 1 more prospect to slip to them.

At least Harrell was healthy when he was drafted and did play as a rookie. You take Simmons at 12 you are basically punting on making the playoffs this season, IMO. He wont play this season he just tore his ACL in February.

There are like four safeties to me who would be all great fits in GB I would have them as 1a/1b/1c/1d . Thornhill, Adderley, CGJ, and Savage. All some what similar players. All four are free safeties and all four are versatile and can play the slot. I would be happy with any of those four at 30

That is a little drastic don't you think. The main reason the Packers make or don't make the playoffs this season will be the guys already in their locker room and not the rookies added in the next several days.

Taking a receiver in the 1st would blow my mind.

Trading up into the Top 10 for anyone would blow my mind.
