Last stab at Packers Free Agents
« on: March 02, 2017, 05:42:17 PM »
Just taking a stab at who the Packers end up keeping and who walks in Free Agency.

ERFA's: (aka.......indentured servants)
Joe Thomas, Jacob Schum, John Crockett, Christian Ringo, Joe Kerridge, Geronimo Allison, Don Jackson.
All should be extended an offer. No reason not to give any of them a chance to make the club.

RFA's:
Jayrone Elliott - Low Tender
Jordan Tripp - Low Tender

UFA's:
Brett Goode - $900K; 1 yr
Datone Jones - $2M/yr; 2 yrs
Eddie Lacy - $3M; 1 yr
Jared Cook - $7M/yr; 3 yrs (puts him in the same range as Coby Fleener, Delanie Walker, Kyle Rudolph, and Dwayne Allen)
TJ Lang - $8.75M/yr; 4 yrs (Puts him "current" top 3, but after 2017 FA he's probably top 6-8.)
Micah Hyde - $4M/yr; 3 yrs

Nick Perry - signs elsewhere, in spite of Packers offer
JC Tretter - signs elsewhere, in spite of Packers offer
Julius Peppers - retires (maybe)
Don Barclay - no offer
Christine Michael - no offer
Sam Shields - Released
James Satrks - Released

Factor in the allotment for the draft class and it estimates out to ~ $35M spent with $40M of cap space.
(You could gain a little space by playing with signing bonuses and 1st/2nd yr guarantees, but I'm just guessing at averages)

Just a guess on my part......................let the chips fall where they may.

I think Hyde is going to get more than that to sign elsewhere. A lot more in fact. No way I pay Lang that much at his age and position. I'm OK with the rest, but wish we could get Perry back. I think he's going to score a big deal somewhere else.

I sure wish that we would start hearing some action on the FA's. :-\

Ted usually gets the one GUY he is looking to retain done just prior to the beginning of free agency. I think there are 3 viable candidates this year for that contract: Lang, Perry or Cook. I personally do not want Lang back because I think the cost is too much for the position. I'm hoping he can get Cook and Perry done prior to the market opening, but would be surprised, pleasantly if he did.
