JB Fanspeak Mock 2.0
« on: March 08, 2018, 11:02:43 AM »
Did a Fanspeak mock today post-combine and am pretty happy with it.  Think we've got strong options at areas of need, and add some exciting pieces into the team on both sides of the ball.

14: R1P14 -- CB DENZEL WARD -- OHIO STATE
- Getting potentially the top corner on the board is big.  Can start as a nickel or on the other side of King.  Felt a high-level CB was more important than pass-rush here, and Chubb/Edmunds/Evans were all gone here.  Davenport would have been an alternate pick, but we pick up pass-rush options later in the draft.

45: R2P13 -- TE MIKE GESICKI -- PENN STATE
- Big, fast, athletic target can help open up the middle of the field for the offense.

76: R3P12 -- OT BRIAN O'NEILL -- PITTSBURGH
- Potential to be LT replacement in the future for Bak, or can be an option at RT.  Athletic, quick, and tall/long.

114: R4P14 -- RB NICK CHUBB -- GEORGIA
- Athletic do-it-all RB adds to the RB mix for the Pack.  Strong inside runner for red zone/goal line/short yardage situations.

133: R4P33 -- WR EQUANIMEOUS ST. BROWN -- NOTRE DAME
- Size/speed combo threat here at 6'5" with a 4.48 40 time.  Terrible QB play at Notre Dame depressed numbers/impact but has experience both outside and in the slot.

150: R5P13 -- EDGE KYLIE FITTS -- UTAH
- Pass rushing threat started his career at UCLA.  Some injury issues in the past but good value here.

172: R5P35 -- CB TONY BROWN -- ALABAMA
- Asset to both the defense (nickel back) and special teams (gunner) units.  Decent size at 6', 183lb and ran a 4.35 40 with other strong testing numbers.  Could potentially fit as a safety as a strong tackler.

174: R5P37 -- LB DORIAN O'DANIEL -- CLEMSON
- MLB option with a history of production/performance at a top-level school.  Athletic, good tackler, can run sideline to sideline and cover.  Also a tremendous special teams player, adds value there.

186: R6P12 -- EDGE KEMOKO TURAY -- RUTGERS
- Raw but explosive talent is worth taking the gamble here.  Still learning skills/technique, but could grow into a fierce pass-rush threat with some time. 6'5", 253lb with a 4.65 40.

207: R6P33 -- RB JAYLEN SAMUELS -- NORTH CAROLINA STATE
- Unique weapon in the offense.  Could be used as an H-back, FB, TE, or 3rd down back.  Great hands, route running, and the ability to run the ball.

232: R7P14 -- OT COLE MADISON -- WASHINGTON STATE
- College Tackle I'm projecting to move inside to Guard here, hopefully while adding strength.  Quick with the ability to move, enough size to hold up inside, huge hands (10-3/8").

239: R7P21 -- DL B.J. HILL -- NORTH CAROLINA STATE
- Swing DL that can play either End or Tackle at 6'4", 311lbs.  Great athletic numbers from a big man to fill out team depth here.  Put up big numbers on a strong DL at NC State.

The thread that runs thru all these guys are athleticism and quickness.  Adding players that have the ability to create big plays is key to me to improving the Pack.  Know we don't add a "big name" to the pass-rush but happy with what's added here at all 3 levels of the defense.

Another nice draft. The only player I'm not fond of is Brian O'Neill, he completely embarrassed himself at the Senior Bowl. Everyone abused him that week.
