The OFFICIAL Packers v Jets Game Day Thread
« on: December 19, 2018, 04:32:10 PM »
Playing out the string two years in a row. This season has been a huge disappointment. Still, there are questions. Should Rodgers be playing? Nope, IMO. He doesn't like it? Sorry, but risking you in games that are meaningless is nonsense. To give Kizer a chance to succeed, design a game plan that emphasizes his skill set. Keep the starters on offense and defense as much as possible. If you play second/third stringers, does that really indicate how well Kizer can play? As far as the game itself, it would be nice to win a game on the road this season. That this , and not first round bye/home field advantage is the best hope for this game....

Reverse result of the Packers win over NYJ's in 2010.

Jets - 9
GB - 0

Otherwise known as the..He better not get hurt bowl.
I still think this is a needlessly stupid risk to take with Rogers.

Packers vs. Jets:
Regular season, all-time: 4-8
All-time, postseason: 0-0
All-time, at New York: 1-4
Streaks: The Packers have won the last two meetings.
Last meeting, regular season: Sept. 14, 2014, at Lambeau Field, Packers won, 31-24.

I can see that I'm probably the Lone Ranger in feeling that Rodgers should play and the Packers should be playing to win the game. For me it is the only way to go through life, but to each their own.

Didn’t Joe DiMaggio once say when asked why he played in meaningless games “There might be someone who came to the game that has never seen me play before”
“What’s going on out there”

Kind of looking forward to seeing if some of these new guys get onto the field today and what they can do.  I would like to see Jamerson out there after watching him in Madison for the past few years.  Would think Bibbs will get a few carries.  Hopefully Bulaga can make it through unscathed - not sure who is next in line with Spriggs out.

Inactives:

Randall Cobb
Kenny Clark
Jason Spriggs
Tim Boyle
Allen Lazard
Nico Siragusa
Kendall Donnerson

Interesting that Donnerson is inactive, thought that he would be a guy they would like to see against first line competition.

That is a very good question, but one I don't have much of a feel for. I could see him returning on a one year deal if the free agency market is chilly on him, but I don't see the Packers chasing him hard. He is still the only true slot WR that they have and he has great chemistry with Rodgers.

With the injury history, I just don't see how they can bring him back.  Jay Glazer is saying that the Pats tried trading for Cobb at the deadline.  I wonder what they offered.  A 4th rounder for him might have been enough for me.

I would be surprised if the Patriots were offering a 4th, but we will probably never know. Rule of thumb on those types of trades are tied to what they believe the potential compensatory value is when the player is lost in free agency. The Packers are probably looking at a potential 6th or 7th at best if Cobb signs with another team. IMO
