Landon Collins is in town
« on: March 10, 2019, 05:56:04 AM »
Heard it from a friend in GB. I'm not that thrilled about the idea, to be honest. He seems more of a box safety----which we already have in Josh Jones. If we're going to spend big bucks on a safety, then I'd rather overpay for an all-world single high like Earl Thomas----with my far less expensive second choice being Adrian Amos.

Packers fan base has some real jewels. Someone post a picture of Collins from 2016 at the airport and Packers nation loses their minds. The sad part is it is only going to get worse in the coming week.

Teams can talk with FAs starting at 4 EST Monday (tomorrow) afternoon (cant sign them until later in the week).    If Landon Collins has a wink and a nod from Green Bay, and is in Green Bay today, that's not surprising.   If its true, it shows me they are serious about this guy and want to meet him and talk to him officially on Monday.  Whether he's the right fit is another matter.

Only in Packers fans minds. Brown signed, well on to Collins. Who is next on the fantasy list after Collins?

Follow the Vegas money and most of the time the answer will be found.

People are not obsessing about him because they want to survey him on what color roses he likes.

Collins is a very interesting prospect because he is good and has posted hints subtle and not so subtle on social media about the Packers. That is something you don't see everyday.

Sources: Former #Giants star S Landon Collins is signing a 6-year deal for a whopping $84M with the rival #Redskins. Hard to imagine a box safety with this kind of deal after last year’s slow safety market. This moves the market dramatically.

So who is next in the fantasy Free Agency Game?

Glad we passed at that price point, this deal I'm sure removes us from considering Earl Thomas as well.

Hopefully we are in on Boston or Amos, both were graded solid in coverage last year and young at their positions.

Bears likely retain Amos, but I'd love to steal him from them.

Good ole Washington never fails to deliver ridiculous money in FA.

Tyrann Mathieu apparently will sign with KC. Three years, $42 million. Exactly half of what Collins got for money and contract length. Seems that last year was the time to sign a safety, because the prices are getting nutty. IF the Packers are going to target a safety, forget Earl Thomas, unless they are willing to commit a TON of money.

Its still early in the process.  Lots of talent still out there.  Its better to make no deal than to make a bad one.

I doubt the Packers have had any interest in Thomas from the get go.

I previously said Amos. If he's still looking in a few days, maybe his asking price comes down. Same goes for Boston.

Wonder if Addae is on the radar now that he's a SFA?

To bad Gipson didn't want to talk.................just goes to show that past connections (played for Pettine in Cleveland and Hackett knew him from JAX) don't mean squat when it comes to FA.

I say that because people (self included) have talked about Ford/Smith connection and P. Smith/Olivadotti connection.
