Packers vs. Bears
« on: March 25, 2019, 02:16:24 PM »
Instead of the Patriots hosting a game on Thursday night, it will be the Bears and Packers kicking off the season on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Heard the league wanted to celebrate the 100 year thing, and had concerns about the Robert Kraft situation and may have wanted to sidestep that for the opener.  NE very well could be in the Sunday Night game.

I believe it has already been reported that the Patriots will play the sunday night game.

One extra note, McCarthy's first ever HC game was against the Bears. Final score was Bears 26, Packers 0. Lets hope the new coach has a better outcome.

Packers Bears is fine as the opener. The only thing I want is to see teams from much further south play the Packers as late in the year as possible. That also applies to teams that play in domes. Vikings, Raiders, Panthers  at Lambeau in December, yes please.

Heh heh, that's funny, RT.  Brings back some memories.  Only scored >14 points in one of those 7 games.

I'd kinda anticipate something similar this time, both the loss and a very low number of Packers points!

Not expecting the new offensive system to take off very well in week one against a very good front group of Bears defensemen.

Especially assuming the new coach with new system will try to establish the commitment to the running game, so will likely be running into the teeth of that defense on a lot of 1st-and-2nd downs during the first half.

As of now, for me anyways, it does have the feel that it mostly will be on the defenses shoulders to win that first game.

Voted for Lions, because its time to reestablish the home field dominance the Packers had for years. Time to tame the Lions. The Vikings will be annoying, but a sweep is very possible. Cousins is a choke artist.

I'm hoping the Vikings don't sweep us, and that we can sneak one out against them this year.

I will add this tidbit here, to me the interesting part of this is that the Packers play the Raiders this season in the regular season. A few years ago it was mentioned that the Packers would try to avoid playing teams in the pre season that they play the same regular season. Guess not this year. Also Saskatchewan and Winnipeg seem like odd choices, I would think that Calgary or Vancouver would be better choices if you were going the western Canada route.

#Packers president Mark Murphy confirms the team is in discussions to play an exhibition game in Canada against the #Raiders. Possible locations include Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, according to Murphy.

I want both of those teams in the cold.

I'm most interested in other NFC North fans. They had the luxury of playing a gimped Rodgers, with a hobbled defense, a patch work offensive line, a TE with a broken thumb, 3 rookie wr, a coach who refused to use the leagues best lb4lb running back.... yet they claimed to trounce the packers like they were at full strength. With better edge defenders, a better safety, growing corners..... what will they say this year if we beat them down?

I think I would rather have two teams like Oakland and Carolina in December, teams coming from a warmer climate rather than another team that lives in the same temps.

Trying (and failing) to limit my Twitter visits to once an hour to check Packers schedule leaks. So far, I’ve seen credible reports that Pack will host Broncos in home opener Week 3 and Panthers Week 9.

So far it seems like many people just making things up. Probably really won't know anything until 7PM.
