I totally had OL on my wish list, so excited to get Jenkins.

Admit surprised at a center-first guy.  I had anticipate doing what TT always did, and going after a college OT.  (Yes, I know, Gute isn't TT.)  I figured an OT made best sense because Bulaga is expiring, and usually a really good college OT can transition to guard if needed.  So a good OT/OG selection would really provide a lot of injury insurance for this year, and could fit into a lot of starting spots next year depending on who they might want to replace.

O well, hopefully Bulaga and Bakhti will never get injured again and will be terrific starting tackles for years to come.

Turner very well may be the RT after the Bulaga contract expires.

Yes, that's definitely one of the possibilities.  But I think it's at least as likely that Turner will prove to be variably deficient and not good enough to be the RT solution.  Who knows.  He may or may not b good enough to hold down the RG position.

Uncertainty, as usual.  His contract is modest enough, he gets the shot, and if he earns it he can keep a starting spot, whether at guard or perhaps be considered to succeed Bulaga.  But his contract isn't that big, and his cap his won't be that large.  Probably at least as likely that he won't pan out as a long-term starter as that he will.

But, part of the Gute plan is to create more flexibility and possibilities.  So, we'll have to see.  I'd just expected the OL pick to be in that Bulaga-replacement-possibility pool.  But dont' think Jenkins probably will be.

I like the Jenkins pick.  Smart, solid and durable player.  I think hes one of those guys that's going to be in the league for a long time.

Jenkins probably has been scouted more than any player drafted by the Packers::)

"Last year, his offensive coordinator at Mississippi State was Luke Getsy, who previously was the Packers’ receivers coach and is now back in Green Bay as quarterbacks coach. Walls said Getsy was “fired up” about the selection, calling Jenkins a player the Bulldogs “trusted” up front."

"“He’s a grown man,” Gutekunst said of the 6-4, 310-pounder. “At the Senior Bowl, one thing you could really see was his ability to move big men. He’s got power, and that was kind of what sold me."
