Brockington and Lane were the two players that made watching Packers football worthwhile during the age of the purple people eaters.
A bright spot in the early parts of “the wilderness” years.

RIP Mac. :'(

I loved Brockington, but every game I watched it was Lane making the plays and moving the chains. They were playing a RB game when the league was starting to move to a pass and catch league.

That combo of Lane and Brockington brought back the days of Jim Taylor in my dreams...

Brockington and Lane, the "bull elephant backfield". Lane was traded from the St. Louis Cardinals. I was working (part time) in the Milwaukee Sentinel (pre-merger) sports department. Merlin "Bud" Lea called Lane's house and tried to talk to Lane. His wife answered and told Lea he was working out at the gym, but he'd call back when he got home. Lea joked that "He's probably exercising his elbow at the local bar." Anyway, TMI, I know. I still remember the Packers making the playoffs, They had a great running game, but Jerry Tagge was their QB. So, their first playoff game was in Washington, which simply employed an eight man front. The running game couldn't get on track, but if Tagge had been able to throw, they could have had a chance. The game was closer than remembered:

One of my favorite players as a kid. He was a beast!
