And then there was one...

Jace Sternberger, the Packers 3rd round pick is the only remaining unsigned rookie draft pick. TE is traditionally one of the toughest positions to transition from college to the NFL.

The NFL's rookie wage scale leaves virtually no reason for a player to hold out, aside from potentially hammering out details on a signing bonus. With the already set length of every contract and the work of player agents could not be easier.

They just ran out of time.

Being lazy in not researching it, but reason not signed has more to do with comps to other players drafted around him.

There are 84 unsigned draft picks, which is about 33% of draft picks unsigned. Of those 84 picks, 29 are 3rd round picks. Under the current system the 3rd round picks are usually the last to sign. The Packers return for OTA's on May 20th and will have Sternberger signed by then, there is zero concern needed with this situation and it has zero effect on slowing Sternberger's development.

Exactly RT. Just trying to creatively generate football focused discussion. Thanks for sharing the actual stats around signing patterns/trends.

Stating it more precisely:
Jace is the only unsigned draftee, and
Tight end is a position that often takes more time to acclimate to the speed and complexity of NFL defenses.

Sternberger sounds like a bright hard working kid who takes developing his craft seriously. He also is relatively inexperienced -- being  a one year standout at Texas A&M, after working its way through junior college ball.
