We have the other Adams to take his place.

That's the thing. The team is apparently going with younger, cheaper players who are the present and future, not the past. Get rid of a guy a year or so too early, rather than keep them around too long. Cullen Jenkins and Nick Perry are both recent examples of this philosophy.

Early indicators point towards this being a great move...

While the Packers defense has been impressive - leading the NFL in quarterback pressures, Mike Daniels has contributed a grand total of one assisted tackle in two games for the Detroit Lions.
The Green Bay Packers never lost a football game.
They just ran out of time.

But Perry remains unemployed. Cullen Jenkins went on to have a couple more good season.
