The OFFICIAL Packers v Cowboys Game Day Thread
« on: October 02, 2019, 12:39:46 PM »
Suddenly, this game looms even larger than before. The Cowboys and Packers are both coming off losses after starting the season undefeated. Both teams have post season hopes. In Dallas, Garrett is probably coaching for his job, while LaFleur is still trying to find his way as a HC. The Cowboys offense (excellent OL and RB) seem to be an ideal match against the Packers defense. And the Dallas defense is a formidable group, and the Packers best WR is probably not going to play. It's a recipe for a big game for Dallas, and another loss for the Packers. And yet, somehow this game feels like it's tilting in the Packers favor. The offense finally got its act together outside of the red zone. And though the defense didn't play up to its early hype, the Philly game just seemed to "one of those games" to me. Expect the offense to be playing hot, and the defense to be coming in with that proverbial "chip on their shoulder." Green and gold tinted glasses? Maybe. But last week I was extremely nervous. This week, I'm quietly confident.

One key is AR has to step up and really lead this offense.

The offense, IMHO, should be now familiar enough at this point to be confident in what they are doing on the field.

With that I am not confident....especially in Dallas!

Packers D ranked dead last in the league vs the run, you know the cowpokes are going to exploit
that come Sunday afternoon. No Davante Adams on the O side of the ball, is a legit concern. Pack's WR's must step up and make plays.

From twitter this afternoon.......sounds like Kevin King may not play Sunday.

Sure looks like Kevin King (groin) will miss Sunday's game in Dallas. If he does, it'll be his 18th missed game in 3 years. He's played in 19 games.

You are either part of the solution or part of the problem.

I feel bad for King. He is never able to play long enough to find a groove.

That said, if he doesn't get past that bugaboo, next year will be his last in GB.

Time for Josh Jackson and Kadar Hollman to show their stuff.

Agree, time for Rodgers to step up.  Is he going to work with what he's got or are we going back to the 2018 eyerolls and bad body language.   Brady has to work with new WRs all the time, Rodgers tends to fold like a box with changes to the WRs.  Time to step up.

As this article points out, King has played very well when healthy. Except he is seldom healthy. This goes back to college, and should have been a red flag. Similar to Justin Harrell- drafted early, but could not stay healthy. Same with Nick Perry. Who was very good when he was on the field- but he only managed to stay available in his contract year, got paid big, and then was injured almost immediately. King will probably get a chance elsewhere if the Packers part ways with him, and I'd wish him all the luck in the world.

Also, just saw this pre-game analysis. According to the author, the game could well swing on whether D. Adams can play well. Even compares him to Gilbert Brown, a third round draft pick by the Vikings. So, indeed, mid round selections can make a difference.

The Packers promoted running back Tra Carson from the practice squad Saturday.

They released defensive lineman Fadol Brown to make room, the team announced.

Packers catch a major break with Tyron Smith being out of this game, now can they take advantage of it is the question.

Last week was the first time this season the defense was tired toward the end of the game. The short week probably had a lot to do with that, defense should play better and get more stops. Elliot will get his yards, need Rodgers to put enough points on the board to win it. Big test for the WR's we have been developing.

Alexander is playing way too far off Cooper. Hes been burned twice. The second one he was extremely lucky Cooper had a super rare miscue and let the ball bounce out of his hands while wide open and into Alexander's trailing hands.

Couldn't ask for a better start. One quarter at a time.
