$100 million contracts but who collects...
« on: March 02, 2013, 02:08:10 PM »
Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a six-year, $120.6 million contract that will make the quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history, a source familiar with the deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Friday.

Unable to Cash In http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9006059/joe-flacco-baltimore-ravens-reach-agreement-according-source

There is a chance Joe Flacco could play out his entire contract and earn the full $120.6 million. But of the eight $100 million contracts that are no longer active, the closest who reached the mark was Brett Favre, who received approximately $55 million.

Highest Maximum Value of Contracts in NFL History

Player - Total Value - Est. Amount Earned

Calvin Johnson - $132M - $21.8M>>
Michael Vick - $130M - $44.0M
Larry Fitzgerald - $120M - $19.3M>>
Carson Palmer - $119M - $50.8M
Donovan McNabb - $115M - $51.0M
Drew Bledsoe - $103M - $30.7M
Daunte Culpepper - $102M - $28.4M
Brett Favre - $100M - $54.6M
Adrian Peterson - $100M - $19.6M>>
Albert Haynesworth - $100M - $34.8M
Michael Vick - $100M - $32.5M
Mario Williams - $100M - $25.0M>>
Drew Brees - $100M - $40.0M>>

It is interesting that Michael Vick has signed two $100,000,000 plus contracts and has collected the most

$44 million off of one and $32.5 million of the other for a total of $76.5 million

followed by:
Brett Favre $54.6 million
Donovan McNabb $51 million
Carson Palmer $50.8 million
The Green Bay Packers never lost a football game.
They just ran out of time.

Where did you get those #'s from? Favre played 7 years under his $100mm deal and collected ~ $75mm, not the $54.6mm you listed.
Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

A surprise I know, but ESPN got it wrong...

@adbrandt
Did a $100M deal with Brett Favre in 2001. He played on it through 2007, then it was assigned to the Jets in trade in 2008.

@adbrandt
Brett made $74.5M on that contract before Jets terminated it off reserve/retired.

Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
